Studio gear building.
Doing more 'finishing' than 'building' gear.
Dusting off parts and gear from storage, Jay has been keeping busy completing
old projects before moving on to new ones.
Good projects for the frozen Northeast USA wintertime.
Completed Jan 2014:
Made new patch panels (Redco audio) for studio racks so that outboard gear can be used more effeciently and
to help prevent wear and tear on jacks.
Added 8-channels of Apogee Rosetta AD/DA connected via Apogee ThunderBridge(tm)
channels broken out to a Mamba custom patch bay (8-IN, 8-OUT, 4-AES pairs IN/OUT).
Moved the electronic guts of a (DiY) Carnhill transformer based Neve-style BA238 2-channel microphone pre-amp (1272)
to make space for 2 channels of (DiY) API-312 style pre-amp within the same enclosure.
Added a new front panel to it, and saved 2RU of rack space in the studio.
This is good because the overall space is limited in the room.
Completed Feb 2014:
Rebuilt front panel switches of a Neve-inspired 1272 microphone
pre-amp that I made in 2005 (my first Do it yourself pro-audio build!),
problem was that the gain switches had damaged wires.
Digital Audio Workstation summing mixer.
A project that has been open and redesigned since 2007, but not ever functional.
